Hakuba

Giving You The Best Services Experiences

Overview

Discover Hakuba (白馬), a world-class ski resort in Nagano’s Northern Alps known for its deep powder, dramatic mountain scenery, and welcoming village atmosphere. The area rose to global fame during the 1998 Winter Olympics, and you can still visit highlights like the Hakuba Ski Jumping Stadium and the Olympic Village Memorial Hall. Skiing, snowboarding, and relaxing in natural hot spring baths are top winter experiences.
Hakuba is also easy to reach from Tokyo, Nagoya, and the Kansai region, making it ideal for both short getaways and longer stays. Travelers can enjoy access to ten major resorts with the Hakuba Valley Ticket, priced at ¥10,400 per day, with discounted options available through participating hotels.

1. Happoone

Happoone, Hakuba’s largest and most famous ski resort, draws visitors with its Olympic heritage, having hosted the downhill, super-G, and combination events in 1998. Conveniently close to the village center and Hakuba Station, it’s easy to reach—and even more appealing in shoulder seasons when lift tickets are noticeably cheaper.

2. Hakuba Goryu

Hakuba Goryu sits close to central Hakuba village and links directly to Hakuba 47 on the same mountain. It’s an easy, popular choice for skiers, and you can enjoy extra savings by buying your lift tickets online in advance today.

3. Hakuba 47

Hakuba 47 is the area’s second most popular ski resort, offering online ticket discounts and a long season from late November to early May. With five lifts, easy shuttle access, and a 4.5-kilometer drive, it’s a convenient winter destination choice.

4. Hakuba Norikura

Hakuba Norikura, a scenic ski resort just outside Hakuba village near Tsugaike Koen, operates from December 13, 2025, to April 5, 2026. With nine lifts, it’s accessible by bus from Minami-Otari Station or a 10-kilometer drive north of the village center.

5. Hakuba Cortina

Hakuba Cortina, the furthest major ski resort from central Hakuba, operates December 13, 2025, to March 30, 2026. Partnered with Hakuba Norikura, it features six lifts and is reachable by a 20-minute bus from Minami-Otari Station or a 12-kilometer drive.

6. Hakuba Iwatake

Hakuba Iwatake, an accessible ski resort just north of central Hakuba, offers nine lifts and a mid-December to late March season. Reach it easily by 15–20-minute bus from Hakuba Station, express buses from Nagano, or a short 3 km drive.

7. Tsugaike Kogen

Tsugaike Kogen, Hakuba’s second-largest ski resort, features 14 lifts and operates late November through early May (until May 6, 2026). Located 7 km north of the village, it’s accessible by 30-minute bus or express service from Nagano, with cheaper online and shoulder-season tickets.
